Welcome! This site holds an online journal, a photo gallery, information about me which I'd love to share with everyone who is interested.

I fell in love with writing in High School. I love the process of story-telling, sharing bits of my life, and creating an experience with words and pictures. I absolutely love the fact that this site is MINE and I can control everything about it - from what it looks like, to what I say (bursts into a sinister laugh).

I write about my daily adventures - as a mother of a teenager, as a partner to my actor/director boy-friend, as a young woman enjoying the fullness of life, as a girly-girl who loves to shop, and a dancer who still dreams to perform with Madonna.

I like to write about my life, a few brazen thoughts here and there, and finding inspiration and happiness in the small simple pleasures of life. Ok...with the, extravagant and luxurious ones too!

Sunshine After the Rain

I've always tried to look for the silver lining, the brighter and positive side of unpleasant and dreadful situations. So forgive me if I don't talk about the devastation of the recent storm. Good vibes only here.

We were stuck at home last Friday when typhoon Milenyo hit Manila. We had no electricity and tried for hours to get a decent hotel, but to no avail. All were fully booked! It's a good thing we stay on the 3rd floor of a condo building and God provided us with this unbelievably cool breeze that circulated from our balcony all the way to our bedroom. Keeping us cool and mosquito-free all night.

I woke up early the next day and started calling the hotels in the Pasig and Mandaluyong area. Still no luck. Then I tried Makati but just found a suite at the Manadrin that costs 12K. No way! Later on, I finally got us a room at the Diamond Hotel in Roxas Blvd. Whew!

clockwise:

1. Cooked Thai food: Tom Yum Goong, Chicken in Green Curry, and Rotti. It just seemed so suitable for the weather.

2. Our comfy room at the Diamond Hotel.

3. Our hotel bathroom. Pampered myself with a nice warm bubble bath.

4. The view from our room. Yes, that's the bay. Imagine how it must've looked like during the storm! Think tsunami?!

We also went to Mall of Asia and met Mike's boys and some friends. Had dinner and shopped. That mall is freaking huge!!! I could get lost there. It was a good thing Geoff was with us (who knew the mall so well) so we were able to get back to our car. Haha!

I've got the Diamond Hotel on my speed dial now, just in case. The room was really cheap (4,500pesos) compared to other 5 star hotels and the service was great! Not to mention, it's located near a monster mall!

What did you guys do or where were you during the storm?

I barely watch the news here, let alone read Pinoy news online, hence I knew about the situation through the blogs. Pictures looked scary, gee! The last time I was stuck in that situation, I found myself pushing our car in the middle of an indian-food-smelling flood on the way to our hotel. Disgusting but pretty memorable stuff. :p Oh well, glad you at least had fun during the ghastly time.

good think we only experienced the black out for 10 hours, we had the electricity back the same day.

sabi nila may nasira daw sa mall of asia bec of the typhoon, kasi nga nasa water siya diba..meron nga ba?

you only paid 4500, whoa, thats really cheap... ang dami talagang mayayaman ngayon. i was informed by my friend that even manila pen, shang etc etc were also fully booked..lol

Wow... that's a great hotel room deal! Handy to know!

We were so blessed because our condo had full service generators... aircon, tv, dvd, lights, stove, oven, ref.... everything was working.

So we took in refugees and just hung out. Friends and Will and Grace marathon!

We stayed at the Manila Diamond for a week last June and had a great time there. I understand why you love it :) after that, we went to Coco Beach Resort in Mindoro where I was eaten up by the mosquitos. The resort was wonderful but the flying critters were not. Have a super day, hanagirl :)
